LBS News

There's a lot happening in our vibrant school district! From events taking place at school to public information notices, we’ve included all the latest events here on one page. Make it your first stop when you visit our website to ensure you are always aware of what’s happening at Lebanon Borough School.

Emergency Closing and Delay Information

Please note that there are multiple avenues to check for a delayed opening or closing on mornings where there may be a question. Following are some methods for checking if you feel you missed the Honeywell call:

  • District Website
  • Twitter
  • School Phone Message: (908) 236.2448
  • Email: we do not typically send a separate email; however, in the event that the Honeywell system is ever down, we will send an email to the address we have on file.

Also note that when LBS has:

  • A School Closing
    • We will cancel all school and after school activities including before/after-care for that day.
  • An Early Dismissal
    • The day ends at 12:45 p.m. and we will cancel all after school activities including after-care.
  • A 90-minute Delay
    • The students may enter the school at 10:00 a.m. and we will cancel before-care.
7th and 8th Grade Send/Receive Questions and Answers

We have complied a document containing questions and answers regarding the send/receive contract for our 7th and 8th grades students that have been asked by parents and community members via phone, email, in-person meetings, and our question and answer sessions on January 15. If there is a question that is not on here that you would like an answer to, please send it to us via email. There may be some redundancy, but we tried to minimize this as we added questions from our question and answer sessions. Please see below for a complete list of questions and answers.

Employment Opportunities

We are in need of one crossing guard Monday through Friday during the school calendar. The morning post is from 8:00 to 8:40 a.m., and the afternoon post from 3:00 to 3:20 p.m. You can download an application, or stop by Boro Hall 6 High Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Please see our Human Resources page for more employment opportunities.

Traffic Pattern

We would like to advise everyone that as of Monday, January 14, 2019, there will be a new traffic pattern on Maple Street. Maple Street will be one-way, south to north, during school arrival and school dismissal times. You will enter at Brunswick Avenue and exit at Main Street. There are signs at the corners of Maple and Main and Maple and Brunswick that enforce this during these times. Please take a moment to read the traffic letter from Karen M. Romano, Borough Administrator, and Bruce Arcurio, School District Superintendent, containing more specifics on this matter. Thank you for your attention and cooperation in following these traffic directions. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy new year.

Young Artist Showcase

We will have our annual Young Artist Showcase at the Hunterdon Art Museum Opening Reception on Saturday, May 4, 2019. More information will follow as the time draws near. Please take a look at the Artsonia website. Artsonia is the world's largest student art museum. Yet it's so much more than that! It's a free, safe, educational program designed to connect parents and families with their child's creative activities at school. The money generated through Artsonia will help purchase art supplies for the school. Some of the projects you see were already created with new supplies.

Thank You Melissa Toledo

The board of education would like to extend our sincere thanks to Melissa Toledo. Missy has served on the board of education for the past six years. Her dedication and time spent with the school has been both impactful and appreciated. Missy has been a part of very successful contract negotiations with the teachers at the school during her time with the board of education. We will miss Melissa, and we thank her for being part of our team.
